The First-Timer's Survival Guide to Open Play

August 1, 2026 · Last updated September 2, 2026

Every regular at Kotofit had a first open play. Every single one of them was nervous. Here's what actually happens.

You sign up in the Kotofit app and pick a session at your honest level, 'never played' is a completely acceptable answer. Open plays are leveled, so you're matched with players at your pace. Everyone on court must be on an active reservation, so book before you head over; there's no walk-in option and no front desk.

Club access opens in the Kotofit app 15 minutes before your session and stays active until 15 minutes after it ends. Tap to unlock the door, find your court on the screens, and you're in.

Games are short, partners rotate, and nobody is keeping score that matters. Sessions generally run 90 to 120 minutes with a small group per court, so you'll play plenty.

Non-marking indoor court shoes are recommended but not required. Rackets and paddles are complimentary; shuttles are available for purchase. Bring water. That's genuinely all it takes.
